Warhawks Topple Patriots with Late Rally
|
The Seminole Warhawks got a stellar performance from pitcher Dave Bruce, who handcuffed the George Washington offense en route to a 4-2 win at Attack Ballpark. The Warhawks are now 23-20, while the Patriots fall to 20-23.
There were several reasons the Warhawks beat the Patriots, but one factor was Matt Pope. In the bottom of the eighth, the Seminole shortstop came to bat and hit a run-scoring triple. It staked his team to a 3-2 lead.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Pope told the Seminole Observer. "You win just by scoring more runs."
