Blues Take Down Panthers, 5-4
|
Derby first baseman Joe Haggerty was sensational. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Central Tech beat the Panthers, 5-4. Haggerty was named the player of the game despite the loss. Central Tech reliever Josh Stephens picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mike Gordon shouldered the loss. Eric King locked down his 1st save.
Tim Mohr had a nice at-bat for the Blues with no one out in the bottom of the seventh. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, the center fielder hit a run-scoring single, which would prove important in the Central Tech win.
"I still have a lot of confidence in this team," Central Tech manager Yassin Flament said afterward.
Central Tech now owns a record of 12-30.
