Jaguars Win Thriller, 9-8
|
The Montreal Cardinals got a superb performance from left fielder Jim Clifton. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Jacksonville State. The Jaguars won the game, 9-8. In spite of the loss, Clifton was named the player of the game. He was 4 for 6 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Reliever Ryan Teator picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Steve Mauger took the loss. The third-place Jaguars have won 4 in a row.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Jacksonville State third baseman Edmond Visser, facing Steve Mauger, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Jaguars the 9-8 win.
"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Visser.
