Porter hits 2 home runs in Islanders Win
A 6-RBI performance from the 17-year old shortstop Matt Porter helped the Grand Island Islanders beat the Riverside Poly, 20-8. Mark Daniel, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 5-2. Grand Island now sits in 5th place in the Hank Aaron League Bob Gibson Division at 19-21.

Porter came through for Grand Island with no one out in the top of the third. With Grand Island trailing 2-1, Porter hit a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Islanders up, 4-2.

Islanders manager Doug Taylor wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
