Indians Beat Mustangs, 7-2
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Jefferson Indians and San Marin Mustangs came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The exploits of designated hitter Gil Partin helped the Jefferson Indians defeat the San Marin Mustangs, 7-2. Partin was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Pat Derby, the winner, improved to 2-1. He held the Mustangs to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 1. Earning his 2nd save for Jefferson was Conrad Jollymour.
Partin contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the fourth. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a 2-run double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Jefferson get the win.
Partin told the Jefferson News: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
The Indians, at 22-17, have now won 4 straight.
