Canby and Lerna got after it at Ballpark of Ecatepec HS.

The Canby Lancers beat the Lerna Lions, 15-9, at Ballpark of Ecatepec HS. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Bryce Pope, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3. Canby reliever Kyle Ford was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Jason Noe took the loss.

Pope had an impressive at-bat with the game on the line. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 0-2 fastball from Jason Noe for a 3-run home run. Just like that, the Lancers took the lead, 11-9.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Pope.

Canby is now 21-15, Lerna 19-17.
