Panthers Snatch Late Win
|
The Pitman High Panthers knocked off the Jacksonville State Jaguars, 12-6, at Batfish Ballpark. Paul Van Duyne, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Pitman High won. The first baseman went 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The winner was Pitman High reliever Jeff Wilburn, now 1-1. The loser was Nate Stuckey. Pitman High now sits at 24-12, while Jacksonville State falls to 16-20.
Pitman High took a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Seth Day hit a clutch 2-run home run to bring Panthers fans to their feet.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Day.
