Lancers Beat Cardinals, 6-1
|
Canby Lancers starter David Owens kept the Montreal Cardinals hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 6-1 win. In 7 innings, Owens surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Andy Fitzpatrick earned the save for Canby, his 9th of the year.
Gabriel Bolten produced a go-ahead single for Canby in the bottom of the third. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Bolten hit a run-scoring single off Joe Crouch. It put the Lancers in front, 1-0.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Owens.
At 18-12, the Lancers are currently first in the Pete Rose League Roger Clemens Division.
