The Downsview Mustangs got a superb performance from left fielder William Nowell. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Francis Lewis. The Patriots won the game, 6-5. In spite of the loss, Nowell was named the player of the game. He went 4 for 5 with a triple and 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The second-place Patriots now have a win-loss record of 15-14.
Yasutomo Fujii found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the ninth. Facing Downsview hurler Wade Knuth, the 18-year-old second baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run. His 10th walk of the season put the Patriots on top, 6-5.
"This place sure got loud," said Justin Easton, the Francis Lewis manager.
