Calderon hits 2 home runs as Texans Squeeze Past Portland
|
Dallas center fielder Juan Calderon was instrumental in his team's 6-5 win over the Portland Beavers. Calderon, who signed a 6-year contract worth $51,000,000 on 01/16/2032, went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Texans. Getting the save was Adrien Clément, his 25th. The Beavers, now 35-48, have lost 4 straight.
Had Tsunayoshi Ito not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Ito hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Texans.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Dallas manager Anastasio Ojeda.
