Neal 4-4, Leads Indians to Win
|
A 4-RBI performance from Lance Neal, who is tied for 10th in the HAL in RBI with 30, helped the Jefferson Indians beat the Kearny High Cardinals, 8-4. Pat Derby got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 5. Chris Schwartz finished to wrap up his 4th save.
Neal contributed when he hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the seventh. Coming with two outs and the bases loaded, the single proved to be critical to helping Jefferson get the win.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Neal told the Jefferson News.
Today's win puts Jefferson at 18-11, while Kearny High falls to 11-18.
