A nice crowd turned out to see the Topeka West Chargers and Tioga Central Tigers clash at Breakers Ballpark.
Topeka West Chargers starter Scott Blanchard kept the Tioga Central Tigers hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 6-2 win. Blanchard got the win, improving to 4-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 4 over 6.1 innings. Blanchard allowed 2 earned runs. Earning his 1st save for Topeka West was Don Philpott.
In the bottom of the 6th, second baseman Nick Marshall gave Topeka West the lead when he hit a 2-run home run. The Chargers had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out home run off Tioga Central pitcher Corey Kellis changed that -- and Topeka West went on to win.
"Scott is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Topeka West manager Jack Fannon.
With the win, Topeka West goes to 17-11, while the Tigers fall to 17-11.
