Lerna right-hander Roger Katz pitched his team to a shutout win, 2-0, over the Santa Clara Vampires. Jake Hope was credited with the save for Lerna, his 1st of the season. The Vampires, at 9-19, have lost 4 straight games.

Though he did not get the decision, Katz did all he could to keep his team close, twirling a shutout through 7.1 innings, until Lerna eventually rallied past the Vampires.

"I had a good game plan," said Katz. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Nick Riddick said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
