Maekawa, Earthquakes Rough Up Bombers

The San Francisco Earthquakes met little resistance from the South Carolina Bombers, beating them 12-3 at Bomber Ballpark. Hisaji Maekawa led the way. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5 for San Francisco. Donkal Ubriani nailed down his 1st save. The Earthquakes, at 32-50, sit in last place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
Also making an impact was designated hitter Ruben Estrada, who drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning for the Earthquakes. For the game, Estrada went 2-4 with a double and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Maekawa told the San Francisco Observer. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
