Golden Eagles Get One-Run Win at Chiba Lotte
|
The Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles got a good effort from starter Katsumi Nakata in defeating the Chiba Lotte Marines at Ballpark of Nasu College. The final score was 3-2. Tohoku Rakuten goes to 26-19. The win puts them 2½ games up in their division.
With runs few and far between, the Golden Eagles had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Tohoku Rakuten came in the top of the seventh inning, when center fielder James Briggs delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Wen-bin Marmon and made the score 3-2, Golden Eagles. Briggs went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Chiba Lotte skipper Motoyuki Hayashi.
