|
The Saitama Seibu Lions dealt the Chiba Lotte Marines a 8-4 loss at Field of the Chariots. Heiichi Matsuo was the star on offense. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Saitama Seibu reliever Kaita Yamamoto picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Te Long took the loss. Chiba Lotte has now lost 4 in a row.
Trailing 4-3, Saitama Seibu's fortunes turned in the bottom of the sixth inning when the 19-year old first baseman Takahiko Shimabukuro lifted a 0-2 fastball into the stands for a 2-run home run. The round-tripper put the Lions up, 5-4.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Matsuo.
