The Tokyo Yakult Swallows turned back the Hanshin Tigers, 8-7, at Ballpark of Otofuke College. Iori Umeda was named player of the game for his fine performance. He belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Tokyo Yakult reliever Alvin King got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Eric Allin was tagged with the loss. Matt Stevenson closed the door for Tokyo Yakult, picking up his 7th save of the year.

Tokyo Yakult took a 7-6 lead on Brian Schaefer's 6th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Schaefer hit in the top of the eighth, left Hanshin pitcher Eric Allin visibly frustrated.

"Every win gets us closer to our ultimate goal," said Umeda.

Their 23-15 record puts the Swallows first in the Central Division.
