Swallows Solve Tigers, 5-3
|
The Tokyo Yakult Swallows grabbed a 5-3 win over the Hanshin Tigers at Ballpark of Otofuke College. Tokyo Yakult left fielder Tomotaka Sudo went 1-2 with a home run and 3 walks to earn player of the game honors. Tokyo Yakult reliever Edolf Neels picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Atsuya Suda was collared with the loss. Jim Unknown was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
In the top of the third inning, Pete Farthing muscled up and hit a 3-run home run. It put Tokyo Yakult ahead, 3-0. For the game, Farthing went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Sudo. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
Tokyo Yakult is second in the Central Division with a record of 22-15.
