Golden Eagles Take Down Buffaloes, 4-3
|
The Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles turned back the ORIX Buffaloes, 4-3, at Sea Hawks Stadium. Yuichiro Suzuki was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Tohoku Rakuten reliever Hiromasa Suzuki picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. Takuzo Okuyama was collared with the loss. Takamitsu Soma got the save, the 8th for him this season.
Mototada Turnell drove in 2 runs for Tohoku Rakuten. With no one out and the game tied in the top of the fourth inning, Turnell had a clutch at-bat. Facing ORIX hurler Takuzo Okuyama, he grounded out, driving in 1 run to give the Golden Eagles a 3-2 lead.
"We squandered some opportunities," said ORIX manager Steve Richards.
The Golden Eagles bumped their record to 22-14 with this latest triumph.
