Great Day for Kaneko in Giants Win
In a high-scoring contest between Yomiuri and Hanshin, shortstop Akira Kaneko was a difference-maker. Kaneko, who is tied for 10th in the CL in stolen bases with 3, earned player of the game honors in the 20-10 Yomiuri win. He went 4-6 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 4 runs. Reliever Sadahige Harada picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Tsuyashi Hiramoto took the loss. Seung-nam Hoang finished to wrap up his 1st save.

Miaoli, Taiwan-born Gui-fan Yen came through in the clutch. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd and the Giants trailing 6-5, he hit a 2-run double to right to put Yomiuri on top.

"This team is on a mission," said Yen, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."

The last-place Tigers have lost 4 consecutive games.
