|
Despite a fine performance by shortstop Katsuhiko Shimizu, the Hawaii Islanders suffered a 6-4 loss to the Columbus Aces. Shimizu went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The save went to Amaui Mahi'ai, his 1st this season. The Aces, now 2-5, have not found much traction so far in 2032.
Joaquín Rodríguez produced a go-ahead double for Columbus in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Rodríguez hit a 2-run double off Mikey Altman. It put the Aces in front, 6-4.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Rodríguez told a Columbus Citizen reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
