The Hanshin Tigers defeated the Yokohama Bay Stars, 7-3, at Cuckoos Stadium today. Leading the charge for Hanshin was right fielder Kiyonori Ogura. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Sun Ti earned the win to go to 1-1. He allowed 2 earned runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. With the victory, the Tigers record now stands at 13-18.

Ogura contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Hanshin in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Ogura took a fastball from Asakichi Oide and stroked the home run to right-center. His 11th home run of the season allowed the Tigers to leap in front, 2-1.

Ogura called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
