Velásquez, Stogies Too Much for Mustangs
The Havana Stogies beat the Mile High Mustangs, 4-0, at McNichols Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Arturo Velásquez, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Felipe Arreola, the winner, improved to 11-2. He held Mile High to no earned runs on 3 hits over 7.1 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. Teguh Suharto was credited with the save for Havana, his 31st of the season.

Velásquez had an important at-bat with a runner on 1st in the top of the third, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Stogies went on to win.

Velásquez attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
