The Chiba Lotte Marines thumped the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, 9-2, at Ballpark of Nasu College. Takato Ono was a big reason his team got the win. Ono was 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Chiba Lotte is in last place in the Pacific Division with a record of 10-15.
Chiba Lotte took a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With no one out, pinch hitter Yoshiomi Takata hit a 3-run home run that brought the crowd to its feet.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Marines manager Motoyuki Hayashi. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
