Tokyo Yakult right fielder Jerry Lemons made his presence felt in the 19-8 Swallows triumph over the Hanshin Tigers. Lemons was 4 for 6 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 4 times and drove in 3. Dae Che earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed no earned runs on 4 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Tokyo Yakult, now 15-8, holds first place in the Central Division.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Iori Umeda contributed a big hit for the Swallows. With Tokyo Yakult leading 16-5, he hammered a 3-run home run.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Umeda told reporters after the game.
