Hawks Hang 6-4 Loss on Fighters
|
The Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks topped the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, 6-4, with youngster Philip Faeth playing a key role. Faeth was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs for the Hawks in the win. Tien Tran-Dinh got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 0. Tatsuro Tanaka earned the save, his 5th.
In the bottom of the 6th, left fielder Goushi Knish gave Fukuoka SoftBank the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Hawks had been trailing 4-3, but the two-out single off Hokkaido Nippon-Ham pitcher Fumihiko Yoshimoto changed that -- and Fukuoka SoftBank went on to win.
"Enjoyed this one," Faeth told the Fukuoka SoftBank Today. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Hawks now have a mark of 10-9.
