Shiba Goes Wild, But Giants Win
The Yomiuri Giants overcame a good performance by Hanshin catcher Kumeo Shiba to knock off Hanshin, 10-7, at Ballpark of Yamagata College. Shiba was 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Picking up the save was Jim Unknown, his 1st. Yomiuri, now 11-7, holds third place in the Central Division.

Yomiuri right fielder Gui-fan Yen changed the complexion of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when he belted a grand slam home run off Jin-yong Kang. His 4th home run of the season put Yomiuri in front, 10-7.

"This is truly a great team to play with," Yen said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
