Chiba Lotte left fielder Mitsuhiko Tsuchiya was sensational. He was 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Tohoku Rakuten beat the Marines, 7-5. Tsuchiya was named the player of the game despite the loss. Tohoku Rakuten reliever Shunsuke Enomoto was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Kyuso Amano took the loss. Takamitsu Soma earned the save, his 3rd, for the Golden Eagles.

Chotaro Nakanishi produced a go-ahead double for Tohoku Rakuten in the top of the first. With one out and the bases loaded, Nakanishi hit a 2-run double off Kyuso Amano. It put the Golden Eagles in front, 2-0.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Tohoku Rakuten manager Bob Edwards.

The first-place Golden Eagles have a one-game lead in their division.
