In a low-scoring affair between the Hiroshima Toyo Carp and the Yomiuri Giants, pitcher Seiju Takahashi was the difference between victory and defeat. The Hiroshima Toyo right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 Carp win. Hiroshima Toyo reliever Way-ming Zha picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Akshey Battacharjee was collared with the loss. Yuichi Vermont recorded the save for Hiroshima Toyo, his 4th of the season.
Takahashi had an important at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the fifth, when he hit a solo home run. The Carp went on to win.
Takahashi said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
The Carp now have a mark of 7-10.
