The South Carolina Bombers got a stellar effort from pitcher Prince Percival Papenfuss, helping South Carolina score a 7-2 win over the visiting Portland Beavers. With the win over Portland, the Bombers improved to 47-33.

Bill Hawken went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for South Carolina. The 27-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Felipe De La Hoya. It was his 30th RBI of the season.

Hawken called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
