The Saitama Seibu Lions went down to defeat to Chang-se Kim and his Hokkaido Nippon-Ham teammates. The final score was 5-1 in favor of the Fighters. Kim, the winner, moves to 1-2. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. At 6-9, Hokkaido Nippon-Ham is in 5th place in the Pacific Division.

Ikumasa Shintani went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double for Hokkaido Nippon-Ham. The 19-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two out and the bases empty, he broke a 1-1 tie with a solo home run off Ryan Desmond. It was his 6th home run of the season.
