Benefiting from Kyung-won Chung's productive game, the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters downed the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, 14-6. Chung went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Fighters. Hokkaido Nippon-Ham, now 3-1, is setting the league on fire so far.

Hokkaido Nippon-Ham third baseman Aiichi Kubota contributed to the cause with a double in the bottom of the first. For the game, Kubota went 1 for 4 with a double.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Kubota told the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Chronicle. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
