Bloomington Blazers starter Kulapati Pandian was in fine form against the New York Mafia at Celestrial Fields at Hermann Park, leading his team to a 4-3 win. Pandian, now 5-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 3 earned runs. Bloomington now owns a record of 40-38.
The Blazers used some clutch hitting to beat the Mafia, a good example being the at-bat of Fernando Franco in the bottom of the first. With two down, Franco gave his team the lead, 2-0, when he hit a 2-run home run.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Pandian told the Bloomington Herald.
