Big Day by Cain Sparks Patriots Win
George Washington second baseman Ryan Cain played a vital role in his team's 9-7 triumph over Canby. He was 3-5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 6 for George Washington. Craig Mahoney got the win, improving to 5-0. He held the Lancers to 5 earned runs on 6 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Ryan Hatch nailed down his 4th save.

There was more than one reason the Patriots beat the Lancers, but Cain's big at-bat in the top of the fourth was an important factor. He staked his team to a 5-2 lead when he hit a bases-clearing triple.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Frank Robles said.

George Washington, now 10-17, holds last place in the Pete Rose League Roger Clemens Division.
