Jimmy Callihan did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Santa Clara Vampires from losing, 10-9, to the Lerna Lions at Ballpark of Ecatepec HS. Callihan was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times. Lerna reliever Mike Boylan was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Ben Brandstetter took the loss. Lerna is now 12-14. Santa Clara is 9-17.

Mike Hensley provided some punch for the Lions. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd and Lerna trailing 4-3, he lit into a curveball from Ben Brandstetter, sending it out of the park. The 2-run homer put the Lions up, 5-4.

"Ugly win or not, we'll take it," said Hensley.
