Islanders, Porter Blast Cardinals

The Kearny High Cardinals and Grand Island Islanders were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Loggers Ballpark.
The Grand Island Islanders thumped the Kearny High Cardinals, 10-0, at Loggers Ballpark. Matt Porter was a big reason his team got the win. Porter went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Travis Finch, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 5 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 2-3. Bryan Clayton got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
When the Islanders needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Porter who delivered. Facing Kearny High pitcher Randy Lynn the top of the sixth with the bases loaded, Porter hit his 2nd home run of the year. It made the score 6-0.
"I like how we're playing right now," said Porter.
Grand Island has now won 5 games in a row.
