Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Indians
|
In a low-scoring game between the Jefferson Indians and the Riverside Poly, pitcher Teguh Sukarno was masterful on the mound. The Jefferson right-hander was named the player of the game in Jefferson's 2-1 win. Reliever Chris Schwartz picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. John Radtke took the loss. Jefferson is now 15-9, 2½ games up in the Hank Aaron League Willie Mays Division.
Jefferson catcher Jason Burch said he was just trying to make contact when he came to bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the tenth. He did more than that -- Burch hit a solo home run to stake Jefferson to a 2-1 lead. His 7th home run of the season came off Riverside pitcher John Radtke.
In postgame comments, Burch said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
