The Lerna Lions downed the Tioga Central Tigers, 7-4, at Alleycats Ballpark. Danny Murray led the way, going 2-for-3 for Lerna. Roger Katz, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held Tioga Central to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Earning his 2nd save for Lerna was Jonathan Lalonde.
Agustin Mateo was a key contributor to the win for the Lions. In the top of the fourth with no one out, the light-hitting designated hitter stroked a single to right. He went 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk.
"You never take a win for granted in this league," said Murray.
Lerna currently is in third place in the Pete Rose League Alex Rodriguez Division at 11-12.
