Patriots Get Close Win Over Mustangs
|
San Marin pitcher Jason Tallent gave the Patriots all they could handle, but in the end, Francis Lewis left Ottawa HS Grounds with a 6-5 win. Tallent allowed 2 earned runs on 2 hits over 5.2 innings. Curt Dixon picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Jake Reynolds was tagged with the loss. Francis Lewis is now 9-8, San Marin 8-9.
The Patriots were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when right fielder Tim Croix turned a first pitch curveball from Jake Reynolds into a 2-run triple. The walk-off triple sent a roar through the crowd and gave Francis Lewis a thrilling 6-5 win.
Croix said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
