Narrow Win Takes Pitman High Streak to 7
|
The Pitman High Panthers eked out a 7-6 win versus the Montreal Cardinals at Nezahualcoyotl HS Grounds. Nobody did more than third baseman Adam Verbrugge, who captured player of the game honors. Pitman High reliever Denis Franco picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Butch Haynes was saddled with the loss. Danny Ventimiglia got credit for the save for Pitman High. It was his 3rd of the year.
One significant plate appearance for Pitman High came with no one out in the top of the ninth inning. Panthers catcher Brandon Goss hit a single, which helped Pitman High go on to win.
"Winning breeds more winning, I guess," said Verbrugge.
The second-place Panthers have won 7 straight games.
