Tioga Central rode a good effort from starter Mike Jones to beat the George Washington Patriots at Alleycats Ballpark. The final score was 4-2. Jones, now 1-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing no earned runs. Harry Dougherty earned the save for Tioga Central, his 4th of the year.
With Tioga Central trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, the Tigers struck gold when first baseman Wade Newman turned a 1-0 slider from Patriots hurler Sebastian Williams into his 1st home run of the season. The hit scored 2 and put Tioga Central up, 2-1.
"We missed opportunities once again," said losing manager Frank Robles.
