Hawaii Islanders starter Allen Cox turned in an exceptional performance against the South Carolina Bombers at Aloha Stadium, resulting in a Hawaii win, 6-2. Cox, now 8-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. Winston Boer recorded the save for Hawaii, his 19th of the season.
Bagaskoro Pakpahan took Beau Miller deep with two out in the bottom of the first. On a 1-1 fastball, Pakpahan drilled a 2-run home run to center. It was his 19th home run of the season and put Hawaii on top, 2-0.
"We looked pretty good up and down," said Hawaii manager Leland Ray.
With the win, the Islanders improved to 43-33.
