Riverside Makes It 9 Straight with 5-4 Win
|
Apollos Ballpark was rocking after an exciting Poly win today.
Pleasantville got a terrific game from center fielder Ken Howe. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Riverside, 5-4. Howe was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winning continues for Riverside, with the latest making it 9 straight.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 4-4, left fielder Marshall Clark won it for Riverside. With a runner on 3rd, Clark hit a 1-1 slider from Jordan Rosales for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 5-4 win.
"Someone different steps up for us each time out," said Gary Corwin, the Riverside skipper.
