Warhawks Jolt Mustangs with Late Rally
|
Fans who came to Attack Ballpark watched the Seminole Warhawks and the San Marin Mustangs fight to the finish.
The Seminole Warhawks beat the San Marin Mustangs, 6-5 at Attack Ballpark, in part due to second baseman Chris Ignatov, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Seminole reliever Cory Hoffman picked up the win to move to 1-0. Victor Correa suffered the loss. Dave Bruce finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Manny Marin provided some late-game heroics for Seminole. In the bottom of the eighth inning, he hit a run-scoring single. It came on a 1-2 fastball from Victor Correa and propelled Seminole to a 6-5 lead.
"Anytime we get it going, it puts a smile on my face," said Ignatov.
With the win, Seminole has a record of 6-8. San Marin falls to 7-7.
