Clifton Lifts Cardinals to 10-9 Triumph
The Montreal Cardinals and Downsview Mustangs lit up the scoreboard at Visigoths Stadium.

The Montreal Cardinals did just enough to sneak past the Downsview Mustangs, 10-9, at Visigoths Stadium. Montreal left fielder Jim Clifton earned player of the game honors. The Cardinals, now 9-1, have had a terrific start to the season.

Jim Goudeau had the most critical at-bat for Montreal. With two in the top of the ninth inning, Goudeau hit a full count fastball from Wade Knuth for a run-scoring single. It put Montreal in front, 10-9.

"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Hector Corretjer.
