Silvertips Ballpark was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Kearny High Cardinals and the San Marin Mustangs.

In a high-scoring game between Kearny High and San Marin, catcher Tony Casarez was a difference-maker. The 17-year-old earned player of the game honors in the 10-9 Kearny High win. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Chase Dufel got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Josh Brolin nailed down his 1st save.

Jacob Proctor, who is the 4th-best prospect in the Cardinals organization, aided the Kearny High cause with a run-scoring ground out in the top of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder was 1-3 with a home run and 3 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said San Marin manager Marcus Piscitelli. "But we decided not to take it."

With the win, Kearny High improves its record to 4-1.
