San Marin Mustangs starter Bill Guinn turned in a workmanlike performance against the Kearny High Cardinals at Silvertips Ballpark. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball in the 6-5 win. With their winning streak at 4, the Mustangs have raced to a strong start this season.

Jeff Rowan provided some late-game heroics for San Marin. In the bottom of the eighth inning, he hit a run-scoring double. It came on a first pitch fastball from Justin Wilt and propelled San Marin to a 6-5 lead.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Rowan, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
