River Otters Ballpark was the site of the home opener for the Santa Clara Vampires. The contest featured a prime matchup between Sam Berg of the visiting Francis Lewis Patriots and Mike Marquez of the Vampires. The final score was 3-2, the Patriots getting the win. Earning player of the game honors was Mike Marquez. Stephon Jackson recorded the save for Francis Lewis, his 1st of the season.

Francis Lewis catcher Tsuyohi Satoya changed the complexion of the game in the top of the eighth inning. That's when he belted a 2-run home run off Matt Reger. His 1st home run of the season put Francis Lewis in front, 3-2.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Francis Lewis manager Justin Easton. "Our pregame was pretty good."
