Stars Get 9-5 Win Versus Calgary
|
The Niagara Stars had to overcome a big game from Calgary designated hitter Randy Stackhouse to leave Corvettes Ballpark with a 9-5 victory. Stackhouse went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Niagara reliever Carl Phillips picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Dave Krause absorbed the loss. Niagara bumps their record to 18-22 with the win.
John Makeever played a key role in the win for the Stars. The center fielder punched a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning. For the game, Makeever was 1-5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Niagara skipper Juan Alea.
