The London Monarchs picked up a win at Hatchets Ballpark, knocking off the Kelowna Heat, 6-3. Starting pitcher Ray Batstone was an essential part of his team's success. The Monarchs, at 17-18, lead by one game in their division.

London took the lead in the bottom of the first on a big hit from Herbert Howe. On a first pitch fastball from Bill Montgomery, Howe hit a run-scoring single. That made it 1-0, Monarchs. For the day, Howe went 2-4 with 2 singles.

"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Howe said. "That's how it goes."
